Water Conservation in Our Region

We can be proud of our community's efforts to conserve water.

The residents of this area are nationally recognized for their positive approach to water conservation.  Continuing development of the use of reclaimed water to replace fresh water irrigation is a major step towards water conservation and environmental protection.

GVSC implemented mandatory metering for all residential customers effective March 31, 2005.  The GVSC also adopted a motion in May 2005 that all agricultural customers will be required to install meters for irrigation water.

Metering is the most effective means of ensuring that both the utility and its customers understand volumes of water consumption, thereby improving water conservation.  Other demand side management initiatives are currently in place at RDNO-GVW while others are being planned for implementation in the near future.

Using our water wisely will help us protect our environment and reduce the amount of water and wastewater we need to treat.

It's easy to take water for granted, especially in an area surrounded by lakes.
