Water Quality

Greater Vernon Water operates a complex water system which depends on a number of water sources to provide water to its 43,000 users. Staff and the Interior Health Authority are responsible for planning, redesigning and developing a water quality program which ensures the potable water supply meets Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines and the British Columbia Drinking Water Protection Act.

A detailed analysis of Greater Vernon Water quality is provided in the Monthly Quality Summary Report which includes the following:

  • Bacterial samples taken from the various supply sources and the distribution system sites
  • Specific chemical analyses
  • Giardia Contact Time information
  • Trihalomethane quarterly sampling

Added source water quality information is provided in the Annual Source Water Quality Reports which includes information on all of our sources.
